The problem

CityScape Builders Inc. relied heavily on spreadsheets, messaging platforms, and manual processes to manage its construction projects. This resulted in fragmented project information, inconsistent progress updates, difficulty coordinating tasks, and limited visibility into ongoing site activities.

From a design and project perspective, the challenge was to help transform these disconnected workflows into a more organized and accessible digital experience.

[03]

The fix

Contributed to the planning and design of a centralized web and mobile platform that brings project management, task assignments, inventory, monitoring, and reporting into one system.

My specific contributions included:

  • Interface Design: Designed web and mobile layouts, wireframes, and prototypes with an emphasis on usability and consistent visual presentation.

  • Project Coordination: Led project planning, organized task assignments, monitored timelines, and coordinated team deliverables.

  • Feature Development Support: Supported the implementation of monitoring and reporting features to improve project visibility and decision-making.

  • User Experience: Helped structure workflows around the needs and responsibilities of different user roles.

The result

The project delivered an integrated construction management platform with AI-assisted monitoring and centralized project workflows across web and mobile.

The system underwent three testing sessions and was evaluated using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and FURPS criteria. Both platforms received an Excellent overall evaluation, with a composite mean of 3.52 for web and 3.54 for mobile.

Through my contributions, I helped translate the client's operational requirements into structured workflows and user interfaces while coordinating the team's development progress.

What I learned

BuildSphere taught me that good design goes beyond creating visually appealing interfaces. It requires understanding how people work, identifying where processes become difficult, and translating those challenges into practical solutions.

Working as both a project manager and UI/UX designer strengthened my ability to balance user needs, technical requirements, and team coordination. It also gave me a better appreciation of how design decisions influence the overall functionality and usability of a system.
