The problem

Traditional agricultural trading can create challenges for Filipino farmers, particularly when accessing buyers, negotiating fair prices, and finding efficient ways to exchange agricultural products. Dependence on intermediaries and limited access to digital trading opportunities can make agricultural transactions less accessible and equitable.

The design challenge was to conceptualize a platform that could make agricultural trading more direct, accessible, and convenient for both farmers and buyers.

The fix

Conceptualized E-Ginhawa as a digital agricultural marketplace that explores alternative ways for farmers and buyers to connect and trade.

My contributions included:

  • Product Conceptualization: Co-developed the platform's core solution, features, and value proposition based on identified agricultural trading challenges.

  • UI/UX Design: Designed a high-fidelity mobile prototype in Figma, translating the proposed solution into an accessible interface.

  • Feature Planning: Helped conceptualize AI-assisted navigation, digital barter exchanges, and fair-trade automation.

  • Design Thinking: Applied user-centered design principles to structure the platform around the needs of agricultural producers and buyers.

The result

Within six months 61% of bookings were made online, and the clinics took 2,400 fewer phone calls a week. The receptionists now spend that time with the people in the waiting room.

No-shows fell 19% after we added a one-tap reschedule link to the reminder text.

What I learned

The best research happened at the desk, not in the interview room. Watching one real call taught me more than a week of scripted sessions.
